Delicious & Savory Sweet Potato Mash | Cook Like A Private Chef
I love a savory sweet potato. Fair warning, this is not a traditional mash potato recipe, this is the "lazy girl" method (but I think it's better this way anyways)
NOTE: Along with my weekly day in the life private chef videos, I will be posting at least 1 Private Chef “sub-recipe” for my free subscribers every week. And don’t worry! I’ll still be posting free non-private chef related recipes too.
This week’s FREE recipes are this Savory Sweet Potato Mash & the Crispy Roasted Shredded Brussel Sprouts
Okay now let’s get into the recipe:
Savory Mashed Sweet Potato Full Recipe:
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
2 large sweet potatoes
1/4 cup heavy cream
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh thyme (4-5 sprigs)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions:
Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into medium chunks. To do this, cut each potato in half lengthwise, then cut each half in half again . Finally, cut the quarters into 1-2 inch chunks.
Place the potato chunks in a large saucepot or stockpot. Cover with cold water and add a generous amount of salt and the fresh thyme sprigs.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
Drain the potatoes, leaving a small amount of water in the bottom of the pot (approximately 1 tablespoon).
Mash the potatoes using your preferred utensil: a ricer or formal masher for a smooth texture, or a fork for a chunkier texture.
Stir in the butter and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve warm and enjoy!
