Crispy Oven-Baked Fries Recipe
Ingredients:
2 large russet potatoes, washed (peel if preferred)
1 tablespoon salt, plus more to taste to finish
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons avocado oil
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Wash the russet potatoes, leaving the skin on (or peel them if you prefer). Cut the potatoes into fries, ensuring they are even in size.
Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of water and let them soak in the freezer for at least 20 minutes (I prefer 30 minutes). This helps remove excess starch and creates a crispier texture.
After soaking, remove the potatoes from the water and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel or paper towels.
In a large bowl, toss the dried potatoes with the flour and cornstarch until they are evenly coated.
Drizzle the avocado oil over the potatoes and toss again to coat.
Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to the potatoes and mix well to evenly distribute the seasonings.
Spread the fries in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they don’t overlap.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C), flip the fries, and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven, season with more salt to taste, and serve hot.
